First off, we use 6061 air-craft grade aluminum for our drop hitches, which is one of the highest grades out there and provides many benefits. This grade of aluminum allows us to hold a very tight tolerance throughout the entire hitch since it is easier to machine, (and not to mention that it has a bold, clean, machined finish).
Second off, aluminum is corrosion resistant. Are we telling you that your aluminum Weigh Safe Drop Hitch will never rust? Yes, we are.
That means you can keep that bold, clean, machined finished.
But what if I want a black drop hitch?
You’re in luck. Check out our Cerakote Aluminum Drop Hitch, which is the same aluminum Weigh Safe drop hitch, but with a black cerakote coating that is baked onto it for added protection.
And of course, makes your vehicle look even more spectacular. This way you can have a black drop hitch but still avoid dealing with corrosion, thanks to aluminum!

To top that off with a cherry, every Weigh Safe Drop Hitch comes with two tow balls: either 1-⅞” and 2” tow balls, or 2” and 2-5/16” tow balls, both in stainless steel.
We use stainless steel because of its corrosion resistance and towing capabilities, and performs much better compared to chrome-plated.
The BW drop hitch comes in steel with chrome-plated tow balls, which will eventually corrode. To keep the steel hitch or chrome-plated tow balls in good shape, usually you’ll have to apply grease. But with our aluminum hitch and stainless steel tow balls? No corrosion. No grease.

Securely lock your slider portion with the tow ball onto your draw bar by inserting the Dual Pin Key Lock through both components.

You can simply buy a new draw bar component with the new shank size and the other components will still fit (Just keep in mind the different weight ratings of the new draw bar)!
